The purpose of the LCDS Robotics Program is to inspire students to apply and expand their creative, communication, and academic skills by using, designing, and building robots to solve challenging open-ended problems.
Both engaging and instructive, robotics is an ideal avenue for inspiring student interest in a wide range of disciplines in an integrated way. The LCDS Robotics Program spans all three divisions of the school. Through coursework, students learn and apply coding, mechanics, electronics, math, art, and physics to robot design. Courses are designed to appeal to all students, not only those who are math- and science-oriented. After school, teams develop robots of their own design to compete in exciting challenges or solve compelling real world problems. Team activity emphasizes engineering design principles, planning, testing, teamwork, and professionalism. Summer workshops are also offered.
