The counseling program at LCDS endeavors to see students holistically, and advocate for their social, emotional, mental, and academic well-being. This is done through individual and group programming. Our approach is both proactive and responsive when necessary. Through collaborative efforts with parents, guardians, teachers, and all members of the community, we can foster students’ development so they may become healthy adults, able to contribute positive to the world around them.
We believe that…
…learning is an essential, ongoing, and lifelong process.
…students are unique and need opportunities for self expression
…students need to feel like they belong in order to be successful
…students can be guided on how to identify, manage, and cope with strong emotions
…it is a school counselor’s responsibility create a safe, non-judgmental environment where a student can feel accepted
